If you are flying United Airlines and participate in their frequent mileage program, MileagePlus program, it is important to know the change in earning miles. When you purchase an airline ticket and travel on flights operated by United or United Express, you earn miles that are transferred to you MileagePlus account. How you earn award miles depends on the type of ticket purchased, ticketing airline and operating airline.
MileagePlus members will earn miles based on the fare and MileagePlus status for the following flights:
- Flights operated by United and United Express.
- Flights operated by a Star Alliance or MileagePlus partner airline for tickets issued by United.
For eligible flights that earn award miles based on the fare, all members will receive five base miles per dollar:
